Not That Different
"I am a special needs mom, and to me, my child is the most perfect person there could ever be. While I love, accept and enable him to reach his fullest potential, I cannot promise him a world that will always do the same. Not That Different is the movement I lead to create a more compassionate and inclusive world for him, and for everyone like him."
It began with a comic book
India's first children's comic book on autism, hailed by BBC Worldwide as "a hope for autistic kids", grew into an imprint that has published over eleven books by neurodiverse authors and caregivers.
Taking inclusion to the workplace
NeuroUnity is the movement's flagship programme for bringing neurodiversity awareness and inclusion into the mainstream, built on the idea that workplaces, schools and families need more than awareness. They need tools, training and communities of support.
Over the years, NeuroUnity has worked with leading corporates including Amazon, GE, Infosys, Merck, BNP Paribas and United Breweries to design workshops, content and strategic initiatives that make inclusion real.
Training an airline to fly more inclusively
When a widely discussed incident involving an autistic teenager put IndiGo under scrutiny, Mugdha did not wait to be asked. She offered to train the airline's frontline teams pro bono, in the belief that meaningful change begins with understanding.
The practical neurodiversity training she designed and delivered focused on autism awareness, communication and inclusive customer service, giving employees the confidence to support neurodivergent passengers and their families with empathy and respect.
What happens after us?
Mugdha is pursuing a PhD in Management at Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune, supported by a Zerodha Research Grant. Her research, "Assisted Living Models for Middle-Income Neurodivergent Adults in India", tackles the question that haunts countless families raising neurodivergent children.
The study examines how parents, governments, NGOs, hospitals, communities and the corporate sector can collaborate to build affordable, dignified and sustainable lifelong ecosystems that promote independence, safety, social inclusion and economic participation. She also serves on the Advisory Committee of the Assisted Living Federation of Care Organisations (ALFOC).
